What happens during my initial consultation?
A detailed picture of your symptons, medical history, your diet, sleeping patterns and emotional state will be taken. The pulses on both wrists are taken, and the tongue looked at. These factors inform the diagnosis. An acupuncture treatment is then given, and an individualised treatment plan devised.

How many sessions will I need?
You should start to feel changes to your symptoms within the first couple of weeks. Frequency and length of the treatment process depends on your condition and how you respond. Many patients use acupuncture as a preventative measure against their condition and continue to attend at less regular intervals once symptoms have  been relieved or controlled.

Is it safe?
Acupuncture needles are single-use, sterile and disposable. Acupuncture has been practised safely and effectively for over 2,500 years in the East, and all British Acupuncture Council members abide by the Council’s Code of Safe Practice and Code of Professional Conduct.

What does it feel like?
Acupuncture needles are much finer than the needles used for injections or blood tests. When the needle is inserted and the Qi contacted, a sensation described as a tingle or dull ache is experienced momentarily.

Is it safe in pregnancy?
Yes. We treat pregnant women frequently. There is no reason why you cannot have acupuncture during your pregnancy provided there are no medical complications.
